Programs:

The Freedom of Choice, LLC program was designed to allow you the pharmacist to win back your local business.

The health insurance business is a tricky proposition. MPC has learned, through careful documentation, that mail order has become a significant commission factor to insurance agents hence the “mandatory mail order” clause in many of your local employer contracts. It is also believed that less than 10-percent of the insurance agents disclose their commission structure to employer organizations, as required by (many) states.

Therefore, the local business -- school districts, city and county governments, employer organizations -- have taken prescriptions from your store and sent those local tax dollars to Nevada, New Jersey, Missouri or Florida. Your store loses, the employers lose, their employees are forced into a situation they have not asked for, and the local taxation organization loses valuable (in many cases) local tax dollars.

 The Freedom of Choice, LLC program involves a TPA (third party administrator) and a PBM. The TPA selected is nationally licensed to offer health insurance through self-funded programs. The PBM we have selected was the first “transparent” PBM in the U.S. It also has been friends of independent pharmacists since it’s founding in the late 1990s.

The Freedom of Choice program is offering a full health care package. Although some states allow health plans to “carve out” the pharmacy benefits, those states are few and far between. Therefore, the health plan package as well as the drug benefit component was been developed for your local groups.

Because of your relationships with local businesses and civic organizations, the independent pharmacist is in the ideal position to create new business. Here is a three-step process:

  • Contact Managed Pharmacy Care for the census form;

  • Provide your “contact” (human resources director, decision-maker, CEO) with the form to complete;

  • Return the completed census to Managed Pharmacy Care.

Dialogue with your contact will be handled by Freedom of Choice, LLC and its partners. Additional information will required to prepare a final written quote, so you will be communicated with through every step. When it comes to the final “presentation,” the health insurance portion will be presented by the TPA organization while MPC will represent the pharmacy portion of the business. Of course, your attendance is most welcomed.

The Freedom of Choice, LLC program was designed to enable the pharmacist to “win back” lost business, save local employers valuable health premium dollars and give the patients health care options that may have been lost due to premium considerations (such as mail order vs. local prescription filling). It’s time you’re allowed re-earn your business. The only requirement is that an employer must have at least 35 employees

Should you require written information packets concerning mail order problems, unreported commissions and even a “commission” sheet presented to an insurance agent by a mail order company to prepare you local “contacts” for this program, just give us a telephone call.
