Politics, what a word! Webster's Dictionary defines politics as (n) "the art or science of government, of guiding or influencing governmental policy or of winning and holding control over a government." Unlike the weather, which "everyone talks about but can do nothing about," Managed Pharmacy Care has underwritten the creation of the Independent Pharmacists Coalition.
Under the guidance of an independent political consultant, Managed Pharmacy Care created an exciting Political Action Committee solely serving independent pharmacists. While not as enriched as other PACs, the Independent Pharmacists Coalition focuses more on county and local issues rather than the more expensive national concerns.
Unlike other political organizations now in existence, the Independent Pharmacists Coalition is different. Manufacturers, wholesalers or retail pharmacy chains are NOT allowed or permitted to join. Membership is exclusive to independent pharmacists, who by now are tired of decisions being made for them by chain store corporations or manufacturing giants.
The Independent Pharmacists Coalition already has scored several major victories on the state and county levels. These gains, however, were only successful through the endorsement and funding by the independent pharmacists/owners, who also benefited the most.
